Ongoing Formation of Priests is committed to providing opportunities and support to all priests in their human and priestly development.
The archdiocese allows $2,500 per year for diocesan clergy and $1,875 for religious serving within the archdiocese. It is expected that the parish or ministry where the priest is assigned will be responsible for half of the listed amount for ongoing formation opportunities.
Early Ministry Program
The Early Ministry Program exists for the formation of newly ordained priests in their first five years of ministry. The program offers support and encouragement while also providing supervision during the transition from seminary to ministry.
The Early Ministry Program components provide a foundation for a lifetime of holy, healthy and effective priestly ministry.
Sabbatical Policy and Application
Priests of the Archdiocese of Atlanta are encouraged to consider taking a three to six month sabbatical for ministerial, personal, spiritual, theological development and enrichment. Priests may apply for a sabbatical after seven years of service in the archdiocese.
