FIFA World Cup games will be played in Atlanta’s Stadium June 15-July 15. To welcome visitors for the games, the Archdiocese of Atlanta has created promotional graphics and printable materials for parishes.
The following materials are available below:
- Social media graphics in multiple languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole)
- Pew cards (one to add a parish QR code and one with the archdiocesan website QR code to “Find a Parish”)
- Human trafficking resources (social media, pew card and internal TV graphics in English and Spanish)
- Bulletin and pulpit announcements in English and Spanish
- Prayers of the faithful in English and Spanish
Because trafficking tends to increase during large sporting events, this event also gives us a crucial opportunity to distribute materials about human trafficking, which we have included for parishes to share with their communities.
Parish Welcome Planning
All parishes, especially those close to the Atlanta stadium and airport, are encouraged to prepare for more visitors during the World Cup. We encourage parishes to consider:
- Planning for potential overflow on Sundays during the tournament.
- Recruiting volunteers to hand out archdiocesan social media campaign stickers (see below for more information).
- Create a photo backdrop or welcome banner for visitors so they can take pictures to post on social media when they attend Mass.
- Provide helpful items such as hand sanitizer, paper fans or sunscreen.
- Take and post pictures of visitors on parish social media accounts using #archatl, #MassandaMatch and #WorldCupWelcome.
Stickers
The Archdiocese of Atlanta hosted a sticker design contest in the spring for young adults to welcome World Cup visitors. The winner of the contest was Byron Felton from St. Michael the Archangel in Woodstock.
Stickers will be sent to parishes near the 285-highway and airport. Parishes can request additional stickers from the Office of Communications.
For questions or more information about these promotional materials, please email communications@archatl.com.
Thank you.
