Convocation

Date: May 4, 2026
To: Priests
From: Fr. Pedro Poloche, director, Ongoing Formation of Priests

Dear Brothers,

I write to share details about our upcoming Priests’ Convocation, which will take place Monday, September 14, through Thursday, September 17, at Lanier Islands Resort in Buford, Georgia.

This year’s theme, A Fraternity That Shapes the Future – Renewed in mission, strengthened in fellowship; serving a growing Church with hope, reflects both where we are and the shared mission we continue to embrace together as a presbyterate.

This convocation will take a different form from some of our previous gatherings. Rather than hosting an outside keynote speaker, this year we will focus more intentionally on the life and mission of our own local Church. You will hear directly from our four bishops, along with several priests and lay leaders, as they reflect on the current state of the archdiocese—where we are now, what we have accomplished and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Following each session, there will be time for roundtable discussions, allowing you to engage more with one another and share your insights with the larger group. These conversations are an essential part of shaping our common future.

We will also include priest testimonials from men in various stages of ministry, offering a rich perspective on the joys and realities of priestly life today. Additionally, a number of priests from different phases of ministry will serve as celebrants and preachers throughout our liturgies.

As in past years, the Serra Club will generously provide a day of recreation for those who wish to participate in golf or pickleball—a welcome opportunity for relaxation and fraternity.

We are working diligently to ensure that this year’s convocation is both meaningful and enjoyable—an experience that informs, renews and strengthens us together in fraternity.

Registration information will be sent in early July. I encourage you to make sure you have marked your calendars and I hope you will plan to be present for this important gathering of our presbyterate.
